Borrowing from a Depression-era idea, they are aiming to help consumers make ends meet and support struggling local businesses. The systems generally work like this: Businesses and individuals form a network to print currency. Shoppers buy it at a discount — say, 95 cents for $1 value — and spend the full value at stores that accept the currency.

Voici Kenji… Le premier robot se prenant un râteau! Le premier râteau numérique de l’histoire. Kenji, programmé pour prendre soin de personnes est tombé amoureux d’une interne lui faisant répéter ses routines, au point qu’il refusa de la laisser partir. Intervention, des responsables, le robot est éteint…définitivement… Excessif, le premier acte d’amour robotique a été arrêté.

Researchers at Toshiba’s Akimu Robotic Research Institute were thrilled ten months ago when they successfully programmed Kenji, a third generation humanoid robot, to convincingly emulate certain human emotions. At the time, they even claimed that Kenji was capable of the robot equivalent of love. Now, however, they fear that his programming has taken an extreme turn for the worst.
